Divergent Labeling Technologies

Various dictionaries or even Wikipedia describe label as a piece of paper, plastic or another substrate affixed to a product giving information about it. The label has now attained a broader perspective. It has become the bridge between the end user and the producer. It can be embellished such that it becomes the sales enhancer, reaching out and tempting the end users to lift it off the shelf. It also has features that communicate with the cashiers in retail, the finance persons for accounting, the logistics department, the purchase department to fix reorder levels, facilitate ecommerce and much more.

Syntegon develops paper-based food packaging as part of EIT Food project, ‘PACK4SENSE’

Waiblingen, Germany – As part of an EIT-funded project, Syntegon has developed paper-based trays and cups for sensitive food products. Together with partners from industry and research, namely Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging in Dresden, Colruyt Group, Strauss Group and the University of Reading, Syntegon is implementing the EIT project “PACK4SENSE” (Paper packaging for SENSitive foods) to develop a sustainable packaging concept. EIT Food, the world’s largest and most dynamic innovation community, is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.

Fresh salmon packed with Styropor® Ccycled™: The world’s first EPS fish boxes based on chemically recycled plastics introduced in Norway

Ludwigshafen, Germany and Vartdal/Bømlo, Norway, 14 December 2021 – Fresh fish and ChemCycling™: How does this go together? In a joint project, three companies have demonstrated how it works: BASF as raw material supplier for EPS, VARTDAL PLAST, who converts the beads into filet fish boxes and Bremnes Seashore that uses the boxes for the transport of some of its high-quality salmon brand BÖMLO® as of Christmas 2021.

Mission Compostable: Cambridge BID launches new public bins to help cut emissions

Cambridge is on a mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the city. It is estimated that emissions from composting food waste are just 14% compared to sending it to landfill. This fact led Cambridge BID, in partnership with Countrystyle Recycling and Envar, to introduce four new public bins for food scraps and compostable packaging. The bins are close to food retailers using verified compostable products, so customers getting takeaways can dispose of waste in the most eco-friendly way.
