Stora Enso is introducing a paperboard tube for cosmetics packaging as a new, climate-friendly alternative to plastic tubes. The paperboard tube is suitable for the primary packaging of skin cream products.

Govt’s logistics division starts formulating national packaging initiative

The logistics division, under the Commerce Ministry, has started an exercise to formulate a national packaging initiative, which will be part of the proposed logistics policy. The ministry on Wednesday said that a stakeholder consultation was organised to define the scope and the national packaging initiative as part of the national logistics policy that is currently being finalised. According to Pawan Agarwal, Special Secretary (Logistics), packaging deserves greater attention from improving the overall logistical efficiency perspective.

Launch of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Polyethylene Film Solution in India

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics and Lucro to launch post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene film solution in India with investment from Circulate Capital. The partnership builds on P&SP’s momentum in driving adoption of PCR solutions in Asia Pacific. Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) and Lucro Plastecycle, a homegrown Indian recycling company, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop and launch polyethylene (PE) film solutions using post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics in India. This agreement introduces a close-the-loop packaging solution to help enable a circular economy in India and expanding overall circularity portfolio in the Asia Pacific region.

High Moisture-permeable Acrylic Adhesives for Healthcare Field

Toyochem Co., Ltd., the polymers and coatings arm of Japan’s Toyo Ink Group, has launched a new healthcare-use line of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) under its Oribain™ brand of acrylic adhesive solutions. The new PSA system addresses the demand for medical tapes and surgical dressing materials that offer high moisture absorbency and breathability, thus minimizing skin maceration and infection. Moreover, the adhesive compositions are based on acrylics – not silicones – so they do contain any substances that may contaminate coating environments or cause costly bonding issues.

Textile company to pack clothing in Woodly’s carbon-neutral, wood-based plastic

Black Moda Oy, a Finnish manufacturer of tricot clothes, bath and home textiles, knitwears and socks, is the first textile company to expand its packaging range to packaging bags made of carbon-neutral wood. This main raw material for Finnish Woodly® material is wood cellulose and the packaging bags can be sorted into plastic recycling or mixed waste after use if sorting for plastic recycling is not possible.

Toppan Printing (Toppan) (TYO: 7911), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, has developed a fire extinguishing film that responds to heat by emitting aerosol particles. This new film is an addition to Toppan’s “SMART LIFE-VALUE™ Packaging” lineup, which is part of the recently launched “TOPPAN S-VALUE™ Packaging” range targeting added value for society and fulfilling living. The fire extinguishing film is on sale from February and targeted at manufacturers of batteries and electrical appliances.
