Used Tetra Pak Cartons Turned into Furniture!

Uttarakhand, India, September 16, 2021: Next time you sip a juice/milkshake and toss that carton in the waste, pause for a moment! For you can do your bit to ensure that the pack doesn’t end up in a landfill. Well known NGO, Waste Warriors has recently installed a bench & a table made of recycled Tetra Pak cartons at Dehradun Zoo. The idea behind the installation of this kind of furniture is to raise awareness among consumers about the segregation of waste at source, and recycling.

ZeroPlast : Bioplastics from Crop Residue

As a Master’s student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune, Aditya Kabra would often go on clean-up drives on nearby trekking trails to remove plastic waste. However, he realised that clean-up drives are a temporary fix: plastics kept accumulating quickly. About this time, Kabra met Kadhiravan Shanmuganathan, a scientist at the CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory in Pune, who was working on developing cellulose-based plastic alternatives. They decided to join forces and form Zeroplast in 2019.

Bangkok – 10 September 2021 Braskem the largest biopolymer producer in the world has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the SCG Chemicals, one of the largest integrated petrochemical companies in Thailand and an industry leader in Asia, to perform studies to jointly invest in a new bio-ethanol dehydration plant in Thailand to produce bio-ethylene and bio-based polyethylene.
