TAIF and Bio-on announce the beginning of the work phase for the construction of an industrial plant for the production of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PGA) with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year, which will be implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan – Russia.

The Bio-on company completed the preparation of a package of design and technical documentation provided for by the License Agreement and provided documentation for a new enterprise for the production of PHC, necessary for design and construction, which will be carried out by third-party companies.

On July 25, a delegation of the TAIF Group of Companies led by the new General Director Ruslan Shigabutdinov and his chief development adviser Albert Shigabutdinov (former General Director of TAIF JSC) visited Bio-on and its production and research facilities located in Castel- San Pietro Terme (Bologna).

During the visit, Bio-on demonstrated to the Russian partners the production facility and all its sections in operation. This installation represents the production of micropowders for cosmetic use. The Bio-on and TAIF companies agreed on the completion criteria for the TGP production project in Tatarstan based on the Bio-on technology and determined the industrial strategies associated with this project.

Thus, the project enters the stage of its implementation; design work, which third-party companies are engaged in, is already underway, and by the end of the year it is planned to conclude a contract for the construction of a turnkey production plant.

“We really believe in this project,” says Ruslan Shigabutdinov, General Director of TAIF JSC, “because it provides a great opportunity for a group like ours, which, among other things, works in the field of plastics. TAIF Group pays particular attention to innovation and environmental protection, and wants to take part in environmentally friendly projects such as this. ”

“We are very pleased with the ongoing strategic partnership with the TAIF Group of Companies,” said Marco Astorri, President of Bio-on SpA. “This will allow us to develop and successfully introduce PGA around the world, and also, thanks to this project, together with one of the most important industrial and petrochemical companies of the Russian Federation, in Eastern Europe.”

The industrial enterprise will be built in the special economic zone of the Alabuga industrial-production type with an initial capacity of 10,000 tons per year, with a possible increase (twice) of its productivity already envisaged.

TAIF will conduct the construction of an industrial enterprise, using the company 2BIO JSC for this.

“The choice of the location of the industrial site,” says Albert Shigabutdinov, Chairman of 2BIO JSC, “in Alabuga, a rapidly developing industrial zone, was due to the presence of a large number of foreign investors who guarantee, in addition to some tax privileges, wide publicity on the international market” .

Particular attention will be paid to the economic and environmental aspects that characterize the innovative technology developed by Bio-on, which can convert low-quality and natural raw materials into renewable, high-value-added products. Bio-On’s technology as well as the production process comply with the principle of a green-free economy, which is currently funded and promoted around the world.
