Safe Load Testing Technologies announced  today its new Tilt Testing Tool, an affordable, mobile and easy-to-use device specifically designed to evaluate load stability during transportation.

Load safety and stability have become critical matters in the supply chain and the goods transportation industry, as well as a major point of debate for industry professionals, who are increasingly committed to attaining a safe and effective transportation.

A poorly secured load might lead not only to fines due to failure to comply with regulations, but also to accidents and significant expenses. In consequence, load testing has come into the limelight of the road transportation industry these last few years. And even more when transport regulations, such as Directive 2014/47/EU for safe shipment of goods, came into effect.

Furthermore, a new load security standard on cargo & load securing, the EN12195-1, has recently been introduced in Europe to increase load stability whilst increasing safety in the supply chain and logistic industry.

More specifically, annex D2 of EN 12195 Standard describes the tilting test as a method to evaluate load stability and validate the lashing systems for road transportation.

Safe Load Testing Technologies contribution to this matter consists in the design and development of a new testing tool, specifically designed for tilt tests, to validate loads and guarantee their stability during transport.

The Tilt Testing Tool is an affordable device to allow any company to validate and optimize the load in a simple and safe way.  The tool is designed with the end user in mind,  thus it is characterized by being detachable, for easy transport and handling, and very intuitive, guaranteeing an easy, safety and fast use.

In order to perform it, the load is tilted in a controlled manner up to a predetermined inclination or until failure. It is therefore a suitable method to quickly compare different samples, such as during the design process, and measure the stability at the end of the production line without adding more elements to it.

Moreover, this method is highly recommended for quality control systems. It could also be useful for highly rigid products that are transported in a compact manner (as seen in the furniture sector), provided that the packaging has limited slack.

In case the Tilt Testing Tool is used, repeatability is guaranteed, meaning that it is a very useful tool to study package optimization and achieve load stability.

The incorporation of this validation tool will allow participants in the transport chain to achieve safe loading conditions, compliance legal obligations and comply with the new European standard EN 12195-1:2010.
