Homegrown caffeinated personal care brand mCaffeine is now certified to be Plastic Neutral. mCaffeine has partnered with The Disposal Company, a social enterprise leveraging technology to fund the recovery of as much plastic as the brand uses across its production, packaging, distribution, and operations.
This bold commitment by mCaffeine funds efforts to expand plastic recovery and provide ethical wages for marginalized waste workers in India. It is part of the brand’s wider plastic waste action strategy that includes source reduction & transitioning to post-consumer recycled packaging (with 80 percent glass material and 20 percent of recyclable plastic material).
mCaffeine’s partnership with The Disposal Company is enabling the removal of plastic waste that would otherwise end up in the environment every year. The company is directly supporting CPCB vetted waste management projects in India to collect and process hard-to-recycle waste streams otherwise too low value to be reclaimed from the environment.
By helping D2C brands become Plastic Neutral, The Disposal Company is helping to address a $30 billion/year funding gap that plagues recycling supply chains worldwide while adding a crucial income stream for over 50+ residents, including women waste pickers, and their families in Delhi NCR.
This partnership is boosting these waste workers’ income by attaching value to hard-to-recycle plastics and supporting experienced recycling social enterprises that holistically uplift waste workers through occupational safety and skills training. As a prominent player in the beauty sector, mCaffeine recognizes the grave threat that plastic pollution poses to the future of our planet and is committed to taking action to address it.
“As a consumer-first brand, environmental stewardship has always been our top priority, and I am elated to announce that mCaffeine products will now be a plastic-free brand.” said mCaffeine’s CEO & Co-Founder, Tarun Sharma. “With this partnership, we are closing the loop on our plastic usage by holding ourselves accountable and also offering our community an opportunity to join hands in working towards a clean energy future.”
“Forward-thinking brands like mCaffeine are the need of the hour. We hope this pioneering move pushes more brands to take responsibility for their own plastic waste. We are here to facilitate climate impact with truly democratic, tech-driven & affordable solutions.” said Bhagyashree Jain, Founder of The Disposal Company, India’s first Plastic Credit Platform.
