Ampacet develops new FauxFoil masterbatches offering rich metallic look

A leader in the global production of color and additive masterbatch, Ampacet has unveiled its new development, the FauxFoil masterbatches, which delivers a rich metallic look.

Designed for molded thermoplastics, the new technology offers a total lower cost option to coating and metallization processes. It offers the shine and gloss of metal in just one step.

FauxFoil Metallic Masterbatch for Polymers including PP, ABS, PC, HDPE, PET, and PS masterbatches minimizes the time and logistical needs of vacuum metallization and coating/painting. Additionally, the requirement for costly compounds is reduced, saving valuable warehouse space.

FauxFoil masterbatches are compatible with standard molding processes; a machine or mold change is not needed. It is a special effects technology that allows colour in the mold.

FauxFoil masterbatches incorporate features like resistant to peeling and scratch and painted finishes, as well as they do not need another production or decoration step. It provides a very low (1%) LDR. In comparison to the use of color compounds that are commonly used in durable goods, FauxFoil masterbatches are economical.

FauxFoil are created for a broader range of polymers, including HDPE, PP, PET, PC, ABS and PS and delivers molded-in metallic effects for PET (injection stretch blow molded) bottles, sheet and thermoforming processes, extrusion blow-molded bottles, and injection-molded components. It is suitable for use in rigid structures like caps, energy drink bottles and closures.
