Albéa Group is proud to partner with FMCG leader P&G to launch several ranges of recyclable toothpaste tube, using its proprietary Greenleaf Generation 2 tube technology.
P&G has recently announced that the new packaging would be released across its renowned Crest, Oral-B and Blend-a-med toothpaste brands. The three brands now feature recyclable HDPE toothpaste tubes made using Albéa’s Greenleaf Generation 2 tube technology.
The unique Greenleaf Generation 2 tube technology provides the same product protection as current tubes yet enables the tubes to be recyclable wherever collection programs exist and are active.
Greenleaf Generation 2 tubes are recognised by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) in North America, and by RecyClass and SUEZ.circpack in Europe.
These certifications confirm that the tubes can be recycled within the existing HDPE bottles recycling streams.
To earn the APR recognition, Albéa Group had to demonstrate that its tubes could be converted into quality post-consumer HDPE resin that could then be reused to make new plastic bottles.
RecyClass, an independent cross-industry European platform, certifies that P&G’s toothpaste tube is compatible with HDPE recycling and that the whole packaging (with its cap) does not have a negative impact on the European HDPE container recycling.
In addition, SUEZ.circpack has tested the sortability of P&G’s tubes, confirming that the tubes will flow into the correct stream and be recycled with the HDPE materials.
This partnership between Albéa Group and P&G is in line with the companies’ ambition of achieving 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.
Jean-Michel Mergui, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Albéa Tubes adds: “We are extremely proud of this global partnership that reflects our long-standing relationship with P&G. We both believe in collaboration and co-development, which help all companies deliver on their own sustainable development goals and commitments.”
