Srichakra Becomes the First Indian Recycling Company to Receive a Positive Safety Assessment From European Food Safety Authority

Srichakra Polyplast (Srichakra), India’s first food-grade quality plastic recycling company announced today that its recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) has received a positive safety assessment from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The announcement comes as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is set to approve the use of rPET for food packaging, reducing the need for virgin plastics and paving the way for a circular economy for plastics in India.

The German tinplate manufacturer ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein launches the world’s first food can made of CO2-reduced bluemint® Steel together with the Swiss companies Hoffmann Neopac and Ricola in March. The three companies, where sustainability and conservation of resources are part of the corporate strategy, have joined forces to launch the first food can made of CO2-reduced packaging steel, thus making packaging even more sustainable. Up to now, the food can made of packaging steel has already stood out with a recyclability of almost 100 percent and closed recycling cycles; now a novel manufacturing process saves a considerable amount of CO2.

EcoBlue Commences Commercial Production at its New Recycling Facility For Food-Grade rPET, rPP & rHDPE

EcoBlue is now ready to provide high-quality recycled resins to help meet the sustainability goals of leading consumer product companies. With the new recycling capacity of 31,000 tons per annum for PET, it shall be able to give new life to 2.7 billion PET bottles. Along with this, it would also recycle 10,000 tons per annum of HDPE and PP post-consumer waste into high-grade resin for food and other applications.
