BIOPLASTICS SUCCESSFULLY MEET ALL EU SAFETY STANDARDS

Products made from bio-based plastics must undergo the same testing procedures as conventional plastic products to access the market of the European Union (EU). Thereby a health risk for consumers is excluded. Plastics intended to be certified as biodegradable or compostable must undergo additional tests. “Products made of bioplastics thus pass even more tests than conventional plastic products,” explains Hasso von Pogrell, Managing Director of European Bioplastics (EUBP).

Gerresheimer Momignies: Cosmetics glass made of more than 40 percent Post Consumer Recycled glass

40% of PCR (post-consumer recycling) glass was demonstrably used in industrial glass production at Gerresheimer in Momignies, Belgium, from January 1 to June 30, 2020. RDC environment, a Belgian-based consultancy firm for environmental studies and analyses, certified after thorough examination that the quantity of PCR glass used in relation to the quantity of glass packaging sold corresponds to a recycling or PCR glass content of over 40 percent.

BUDWEISER BREWING GROUP UK&I ELIMINATES ALL PLASTIC RINGS

Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I, a proud part of AB InBev, today announces that its iconic portfolio of beers is now plastic-ring free – eliminating 250 tonnes of plastic every year across its full canned beer range, including Budweiser, Bud Light and Stella Artois. In total, combined with decreasing its usage of plastic shrink wrap, the brewer has removed 850 tonnes of plastic waste, the equivalent weight of 67 double decker buses, from its supply chains.
