Syntegon develops paper-based food packaging as part of EIT Food project, ‘PACK4SENSE’

Waiblingen, Germany – As part of an EIT-funded project, Syntegon has developed paper-based trays and cups for sensitive food products. Together with partners from industry and research, namely Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging in Dresden, Colruyt Group, Strauss Group and the University of Reading, Syntegon is implementing the EIT project “PACK4SENSE” (Paper packaging for SENSitive foods) to develop a sustainable packaging concept. EIT Food, the world’s largest and most dynamic innovation community, is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.

Mission Compostable: Cambridge BID launches new public bins to help cut emissions

Cambridge is on a mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the city. It is estimated that emissions from composting food waste are just 14% compared to sending it to landfill. This fact led Cambridge BID, in partnership with Countrystyle Recycling and Envar, to introduce four new public bins for food scraps and compostable packaging. The bins are close to food retailers using verified compostable products, so customers getting takeaways can dispose of waste in the most eco-friendly way.
