Schur Flexibles’ subsidiary to showcase tailormade flexible packaging solutions at Pharmapack 2019

Schur Flexibles

Flexible Packaging Materials tailormade for modern pharmaceutical and health care solutions and highest legal standards, patient safety first, by Schur Flexibles.

In hardly any industry, the demands on packaging are as high and complex as in the pharmaceutical and health care industry. In addition to specific material properties to ensure a high barrier effect, which secures the product against external influences, patient safety as well as consumer-friendliness play a superordinate role. Overall, manufacturers are required to comply with extensive national and international legal regulations, standards and guidelines for the protection of patients.

Danapak Flexibles A/S, a leading and innovative supplier of complex flexible packaging materials for almost 40 years based in Slagelse, Denmark, is a subsidiary of the Schur Flexibles Group and will be exhibiting at Pharmapack in Paris from 6. – 7. February 2019 in Hall 7.2 Stand H30 to present the newest innovative tailormade flexible packaging solutions for the pharma industry.

Broad range of smart pharmaceutical packaging solutions

Danapak’s inroad to the pharmaceutical and health care industry started with supplies of laminates to the transdermal therapeutic industry, which has later been extended to other product groups. High barrier child resistant lidding materials sealing against all common materials such as e.g. PVC/PVDC, PET and PP has been introduced as well, and lately anti-counterfeit solutions using holographic effects have been introduced.

Danapak is a market leader in highly complex laminates with high chemical resistance and inertness to the transdermal industry offering a broad standard range of materials. The range also includes child resistant options. A specialty is the supply laminates containing Barex laminates for products with very high demands to inertness and chemical resistance. With the announced discontinuity of Barex, Danapak has developed a range of alternative specifications through active use of the Hansen Solubility Parameter (HSP) analysis and protected by patent applications. Danapak is able to offer customers tailormade packaging solutions, which is particularly suited to individual API’s and excipients. The HSP analysis calculates which specific contact (sealing) layer is the best suited to withstand the individual API’s and excipients contained in the product to be packed.

Wide range of innovative blister applications

Danapak has introduced a patented range of lidding materials for blister applications. The range of laminates offer very high barrier properties, and the range is consisting of alu-, PETM- and transparent PET laminates. The transparent range is of particular interest for products, where it is a requirement that the packed tablets are visible. Additionally, the look-to-the-product feature offers customers the possibility to
differentiate their products e.g. by using different colours. Contrary to traditional specs using sealing lacquers, Danapak is offering all specs with polymers as sealing media. This secures a smooth and constant peel opening of the packs. A patented opening of the blister card offers child resistance, yet a senior friendly opening.

Smart anticounterfeit concept

The latest novelty by Danapak aimed at the pharmaceutical market is a new anti-counterfeit concept, allowing to have a unique holographic effect built into the packaging without any use of inks or varnish. The holographic effect is visible to the end-user without the use of any other device, it can be made with extreme detail. It is made with nano-structures which reflects the light in specific colours and patterns. The system, which has been patented is available in both transparent and metallized solutions.

Wide range of printing competence

Danapak Flexibles is offering a wide range of different printing technologies for different purposes e.g. UV surface flexo printing for smaller order sizes. Furthermore, Danapak are currently implementing a state-of-the-art printing facility that can be widely used for the pharmaceutical and health care markets.
