British food packaging specialist KM Packaging has introduced two new KPeel Ambtort lidding films, in order to address the complex demands of the ambient food market.
Designed to withstand the high temperatures of up to 123 degrees Celsius used in retort sterilisation, the two films are the part of the company’s KPeel range. They provides extended shelf-life of ambient products ranging from ready meals to fruit pots.
KPeel Ambtort AL 91 features an aluminium foil layer, offering the best possible barrier in terms of water vapour and oxygen transmission rates, while the transparent triplex laminate film, KPeel Ambtort PPs 85, features high barrier properties.
KPeel Ambtort PPs 85 offers a strong, smooth hot and cold peel, as well as can be used to seal PP and PP lacquered foil trays.
Ideal for printing, delivering enhanced branding opportunities and product presentation, both the films can be used for ambient, chilled or frozen tray lidding applications.
“Adding the two Ambtort solutions to our KPeel range enables us to deliver the high-performance peel and extended shelf-life required by food manufacturers, even under the high heat conditions used during retort sterilisation, said Charles Smithson, Managing Director at KM Packaging.
“Ambtort PPs 85 and Ambtort AL 91 lidding films are suitable for a wide range of applications and the Ambtort PPs 85 lidding film can be retained during microwave cooking, enhancing end-user convenience. Providing effective and reliable seal performance, these two latest additions are ideal for any manufacturer looking to significantly extend shelf-life,” he added.
